MICHAEL JOHNSON, Senior CONSULTANT PSYCHOLOGIST

Michael joined Thompson Dunn as a Consultant Psychologist in October 2012. His interest in the psychology of business was sparked during his undergraduate Psychology MA at the University of Edinburgh. He then moved to London to work towards an MSc in Organisational Psychology at City University, which he achieved with Distinction.

Michael’s interests range from leadership, development and assessment to the overlap between occupational and sporting psychological principles. This overlap was the motivation for his thesis research that explored the work-recovery experiences of professional cricketers, and the resulting practical and health implications for individual sporting professionals and regulatory bodies.

Michael has developed an extensive portfolio of international client work during his time with Thompson Dunn, specialising in executive recruitment assessment, leadership development and coaching. He works very closely with Managing Director and Principal Psychologist Pat Thompson to deliver in depth developmental and recruitment assessment work on behalf of clients around the world. As of March 2016, Michael took on the role of Senior Consultant Psychologist at Thompson Dunn.

In addition to his work as a Psychologist, Michael has been a major driving force behind the development and production of the Decision Profile. His input has seen the instrument grow and to become a world class assessment tool available to licensed clients, globally. He offers unique support and coaching services to help businesses to understand and develop their decision making culture and talent.

Michael is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and is currently working towards his Chartership in Occupational Psychology.

diana franculescu, assistant psychologist

Diana is the latest addition to Thompson Dunn, joining in July 2018 as an Assistant Psychologist.

The desire to work in Occupational Psychology stemmed from her undergraduate years studying Psychology at University College London where she endeavoured to explore psychological theories and their presence in the workplace. Diana’s dissertation entitled “Personality and Occupational Behaviour: The relationship between employees’ performance, demographical information, personality and absenteeism” confirmed and intrigued her to make further investigations. Diana enriched her knowledge by completing a Level 5 Diploma in HR Management and continued to practice occupational concepts and principles whilst studying for an MSc in Occupational Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Before arriving at Thompson Dunn, Diana has worked in the private, public and voluntary sector, thus developing her understating of how business success is impacted in each environment by employees’ sense of engagement, potential and professional development within the company and how each institution adjusts goals and strategies to suit their current market.

She works closely with Managing Director and Principal Psychologist Pat Thompson and Senior Consultant Psychologist Michael Johnson to deliver comprehensive developmental and recruitment assessments to clients globally and to assist in the continuous development of the Decision Profile.

Diana is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, a Certified Occupational Test User and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Her interests span the topics of leadership development, organisational well-being, recruitment and talent management. She also has a passion for the aviation industry, holding a private pilot license herself.

Diana is the first point of contact for current Thompson Dunn business enquiries.
